About Stuk
The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (Finnish: Säteilyturvakeskus, Swedish: Strålsäkerhetscentralen), often shortened as STUK, is a management agency tasked later nuclear safety and radiation monitoring in Finland. The agency is a distancing of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health; when founded in 1958 STUK was first charged bearing in mind inspection of radiation equipment used in hospitals.
The agency is then a scientific research and education organization, researching the nature, effects and damaging effects of radiation. The agency currently employs roughly 320 people, and is led by Petteri Tiippana.
The agency works in collaboration as soon as EU and other easy to use countries, as share of the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG), and like the UN management International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) along taking into account the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
